Jacksonville Aviation Authorityoperates airports servicing NorthEast Florida/South Georgia: Jacksonville International Airport (JIA), Cecil Field Airport, Craig Airport, and Herlong Airport. In 2004 Jacksonville Aviation Authority performed 120,063 aircraft operations, 2,479,945 enplanements, 2,469,170 deplanements, with a total of 4,949,115 Passengers. Air Cargo and Airmail tallied to 159,440. The Jacksonville Aviation Authority owns and manages the Jacksonville Airport System. The Jacksonville Airport System is a diversified airport system that serves the commercial, business and recreational aviation needs of the City of Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia (the Community).
The Jacksonville Airport System is comprised of Jacksonville International Airport (JIA), Craig Airport, Herlong Airport and Cecil Field and is strategically located throughout the Community. JAA owns the runways, hangars, passenger terminal building, airport grounds and road connections to the public highway system. JAA provides and maintains the terminals and their equipment and manages the overall use of the facilities.
Jacksonville International (JAX)was original created in 1963 to develop maintain and market Jacksonville's port facilities. Chartered by the state of Florida, the Port Authority was created as a government entity that would operate in a business-like fashion. JAXPORT's three marine terminals handled a record-setting 8.4 million tons of cargo in Fiscal Year 2005, including more than 544,000 vehicles - making JAXPORT one of the largest vehicle handling ports in the country.
JAXPORT owns and operates three public marine terminals and one passenger cruise terminal in Jacksonville Florida: the Blount Island Marine Terminal, the Talleyrand Marine Terminal, the Dames Point Marine Terminal, and the temporary JAXPORT Cruise Terminal. JAXPORT develops, manages and markets those publicly-owned facilities to promote the growth of maritime and related industries in Jacksonville Florida and beyond.
