Duval County has the following 2 Humane Societies: Jacksonville Humane Society and City of Jacksonville Animal Care & Control.

Jacksonville Humane Society is located on the south side of the road, one-quarter mile west of the Southside Boulevard underpass . Adoption Fee: $75 includes first booster shots, not including rabies, Spay/neuter, tattoo and registration through JHS, heartworm test. They have Mobile Adoptions at PETsMART on Southside Boulevard near the Avenues Mall every Saturday from 10am-3pm.

City of Jacksonville Animal Care & Control is open 7 days a week and provides a temporary home for stray, injured and unwanted animals. The public's safety is protected by removing stray and nuisance animals from public and private places. Lost & found pets are identified and reunited with their owners. Adoption counseling and arrangements of claimed and unowned dogs and cats are also offered. Healthy and affectionate pets of all ages, shapes and sizes are available. Purebreds are offered as well. All dogs and cats 4 months of age and older are vaccinated for rabies and licensed before they are adopted. One more way Animal Care and Control protects Jacksonville animals.
